ABOUT AIRLINE FITTINGS
UNDERSTANDING AIRLINE
Airline Fittings (Hose Tail Fittings) are commonly used for many applications. When deciding on what fitting to use it is important to understand the following.
Hose is measured by the internal diameter (ID) and can be connected with all Hose Tail Fittings. The most common types of industrial hoses are CVT (Clear Vinyl Tube), PVC (Braided Poly Vinyl Chloride) and various forms of rubber hose. Note That CVT is actually a hose and not a tube.
Self Store Hose is measured by the ID. (1/4" Self Store Hose is 5/16" OD Nylon Tube)
PRESSURE
Depending on the fittings but generally rated
500PSI/3450kPa Max@ 40ºC
THREADS

ASSEMBLY
1. Cut hose to desired length ensuring end is straight
2. Slide Hose Clamp or 'O' Clip over hose
3. Insert Barb into hose until it buts up against end
4. Tighten Hose Clamp onto hose
5. A thread sealant is recommended where fitting has a Male Thread
ABOUT HOSE TAILS
Hose Tail fittings are designed not to damage the inner wall of the connecting hose. They are not a push and lock style and do require Hose Clamps or "O" Clips to secure the hose.
It should be noted that most fitting manufacturers describe hose in imperial size.
E.g. 4TM4 1/4" x 1/4", while most hose manufacturers describe hose in metric.
Refer to the conversion table below to assist in matching hose and fittings.
